The Screen Arts Institute has been awarded an ARC (Appalachian Regional Commission) POWER Grant. Screen Arts Institute Receives $400,000 from Appalachian Regional Commission’s POWER Initiative
Screen Arts Institute has been awarded $400,000 by the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) to institute the Broadcast Arts Initiative program which will teach courses in the media arts (animation, digital illustration, graphic design, mobile game building and artrepeneurship) aimed at giving teens and adults new skill sets to move them towards remote / freelance work as well as starting their own businesses in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Along with this grant are additional matching funds of $400,000 bringing the entire grant total to $800,000. This award is part of a recently announced $68.2 million award package supporting 65 projects across 188 coal-impacted counties through ARC’s POWER (Partnerships for Opportunities and Workforce and Economic Revitalization) Initiative.
POWER awards support entrepreneurship, workforce development efforts, and infrastructure projects that bolster job training and reemployment opportunities, create jobs in existing or new industries, and attract new sources of private investment in coal-impacted communities.
